We then started thinking about how to draw people to our Folie. Our ideas focused on a sort of 'light box' concept. The first image was particularly inspiring. Methods of attachment [to the bridge] and access was considered. The idea of a cable car Folie dually seemed to answer these questions.
Yasu's statement "it can't be box" seemed challenging to this design, especially because we were not sure how box like it wasn't allowed to be. Did a rectangle count? Just kidding...sort of. I tend to love simple, clean lines so that was difficult.
On the vein of personal aesthetic preferences, my group has extremely varied styles. This will probably prove to be the biggest issue in the design process. It is both the challenge and one of the strongest positives of group work.
A design that has been examined from multiple view points could be extremely strong in both concept and design... Consider it with the concept of synergy in mind: the whole is greater than the sum of parts.
However, if the group cannot agree then what may result is one big compromise; weak in both concept and design.
I believe this can be avoided through good project management, particularly good role delegation. I seem to be driving the concept design, Aaron is solid at construction drawings, Iain is skilled in photoshop and graphics and Emma is strong in research. I'm confident we will work well as team, due to our prior experience working with one another and our friendship.
